Freedom School

Freedom School is a nationwide initiative of the Children’s Defense Fund to increase literacy and provide cultural enrichment for children. Macon’s Freedom School is funded by Appleton Episcopal Ministries, and serves 50 rising 1st-3rd graders for six weeks each summer. The St. Francis Arts Center partners with Macon Freedom School to provide literacy through arts enrichment for the students.

This year, the Freedom School students will be with us June 24-28, and July 8-12. We will be reading and learning about our cold-blooded friends in Miles and Miles of Reptiles: All About Reptiles by Tish Rabe. Each child will receive a book to take home, and will create original works of art to take home.

Please contact the St. Francis Arts Center at sfacmaconga@gmail.com to help with this worthwhile program.
